CASAROC GUESTBOOK
The Casaroc guestbook has some recent – and not so recent – endorsements from our visitors from all over the world. Since 1989 we’ve welcomed climbers and walkers to Sella and they have added their comments to the Casaroc guestbook
2/1/2023 to 11/1/2023
We very much enjoyed our time in Sella – climbing on the great limestone, hiking and trying the local tapas during this first week of the new year.
Thank you very much, Steve, for hosting us in this beautiful house. By the end of our stay we even managed to find our way around a;; the narrow streets and alleyways.
Tip for future visitors: try the fresh orange juice “Jugo de naranja natural” in one of the bars ( or simply make your own while you are here…)
We would love to come back in the future.

30th October 2016 La Casa Grande de Sella We have enjoyed another comfortable stay in La Casa Grande. Soft touch grades Alcalalí – a good spread of grades Paret de la Bassa ( Valle de Guardar) – long S.P. routes, full value. Pared de Rosalía, (Sella Gorge) 6a’s/6b – top end of the grade, and a surprisingly good 4 – la Vergonya – which is actually about 5+ and around 28 metres long – not as shown in RF Plus old favourites – Toix, Magical Mystery Tour, and the rest of Sella Gorge ( check out recent new routing, in and amongst the older routes, and more extensively at the top end of the Gorge, beyond the Sector Final) John, Erica, Shirley, Phil, John Jo and Chris Craven Mountaineering Club, West Yorkshire, UK

The house itself is really comfortable and nice, warm as well! There are only two things we missed (but could easily go without them as well): # a blender # recycling (separate bins for plastic, glass etc) We’re definitely returning to Sella and Casaroc will be our first choice here! Eva and Franci from Slovenia

October 2013 – Walking Week This our third visit to Sella and it would be easy to assume that the Casaroc experience would lessen with time. Nothing could be further from the truth. Sella retains its magic, Steve and Martin devise and lead walks which continue to challenge and enchant in equa lmeasure while Liz prepares meals which live in the memory long after the plane has landed back in the UK. Casaroc itself is very comfortable and provides a relaxing environment at the end of a busy day. My ” always correct” husband has just reminded me that this is actually or 4th visit! and that I should also mention the wonderful humour and banter enjoyed on our walks – I genuinely believe he means that generated by Steve and Martin – not just his own! Carol and Mike Clark
August 2013 Casaroc: family holiday
Once again a fantastic family holiday in Casaroc! A few new things we discovered on this trip which are definitely well worth putting on the ” To Do list”:-
- Wine tour and tasting (hic!) at the Enrique Mendoza Bodega in Alfas del Pi. Tricky to find but well worth the €20.00 for knowledgeable tour and tasting of about 6 delicious wines with nibbles! Leaflet in red folder
- Les Fonts de l´Algar – waterfalls and natural pools for swimming in. Bit touristy but reckon if you get there early enough you´d bag a good spot. Good for all ages – some shallow pools for the little ones and deeper ones for the more adventurous. Small entry fee ( €4.00)
- Valor Chocolate Museum (Villajoiosa) – go during the week to see the production line in action. No Oompa-Loompas though – most disappointing!
- The beach at La Vila Joiosa never disappoints! Snorkelling near the rocks you´ll see LOADS of fish.
- Gusta Pizza at La Vila – great food, great value!
- Great day at Terra Mítica (thanks Steve and Liz for joining us) Great fun getting wet on the big log flume rides, flying on the big chain swings, getting trattled to bits on the big roller-coaster, plus fab fireworks and lasers at the end!
- Safari Aitana (up the mountain) great afternoon out. Not meant to feed the animals but we sneaked some watermelon in – were nearly hijacked by the camels for it though.
- Normal trips to Aqualandia and Mundomar – worth a visit if you like water slides and dolphins!
Local ginger cat (known as “Ginger”) seems to treat Casaroc as a second home . He is very friendly and was happy to be lugged around by Lily.
All in all a very enjoyable holiday – sad to leave but already looking forward to the next trip!
Much love from Team Chilvers Karen Dave and Lily, Woking, UK
May 2013 La Casa Grande
8 go mad in Sella! Thank you Liz and Steve for a lovely week in this gorgeous village and your beautiful houses. Some of us had too much ginger beer at Bar Piscina but it has to be done! We had great walks, lovely food and a lot of laughs even though the weather wasn´t too good. Will be back. The Leeds Walking and Drinking Group, Yorkshire UK
May 2013 This house was very nice and Ginger was very cute!!! Ilias We had the best hamburguer and chips at Ca Isa y Toni. We could even order in Dutch. This is the best house we have ever had! Nice view, nice town, nice people, very nice cat! Ginger. We loved the beach in La Vila Joiosa And the coloured houses. The walks around here are good. Beautiful views and waterfall. , April 2013 Casaroc What a welcome break after the longest winter in UK!! We loved Sella; great little community. Casaroc is a gem – the terrace is extra special. Villajoiosa is a great seaside spot at this time of year – lovely sandy beach. Try the Horchata which is very refreshing to drink when it is warm. Thank you for sharing the house and village with us, many best wishes Fran and Andy London, UK
March 2013 La Casita de las Nubes If you should have the misfortune to be here during some of the worst weather seen in Spain at this time of year – hail storms, snow and a snow plough above the Guadalest Valley, much rain and high wind – then what better place to be? Warm and cozy, quiet and relaxing: then we´d rush out in the dry bits and walk in this dramatic countryside. Thanks for meeting us, settling us in and being available to answer thos essential questions. A great week. Prue and Ken , Sheffield, UK

Casaroc September 2012 We were last at Casaroc three years ago and now we think that has been a mistake. Fine walks and scrambles on the Sanchet ridge and the Puig, and some extraordinary mist-wreathed landscape in that area. Just walk the old road from Sella to Finestrat to see them. Your balconey is outstanding. We hope to be back in Almond blossom time. Thank you Steve and Liz Jen and Dave UK
