Climbing/Walking/Surfing

Sella village  is just 10 minutes from the Sella crags  and at the centre of a network of trails and hiking paths – why stay anywhere else? Also within easy distance are the  crags at Toix, on the coast, the Mascarat gorge, Guadalest, Puig Campana, the Penyon D’ Ifach at Calpe and the new routes on the Peñon Divino, down the valley- Sella is central for all the Costa Blanca climbing.and walking.

WALKING – HIKING

The surrounding hills are full of routes , many of which we have laminated guides and GPS tracks for ( see the ” walking routes” menu entry.) At least 4 excellent routes start and end in Sella village – La Ruta de Agua, El Camí de la Cólera, Sella-Relleu and the challenging route up through the Solana and along the Sella ridge ( Geocaches to be found!!) Other routes are a 5 minute drive away. We recommend sturdy hiking footware, a local map and, as summer approaches, headgear and more water than you think you’ll need!

There are good maps on the walls of both houses and we usually have the same map on sale – if we’re out of stock we’ll lend you one. Gill Round’s excellent little book of Costa Blanca walking routes is in the library for both Casaroc and Roc House and there are several other guides, some in Spanish but with maps.  We recommend September to May for walking, but the full summer is also good – we’ve done the Barranc / Sirvent route  at night in July under a full moon and it was rather wonderful. The cool bottle of Cava made it even better!!

CLIMBING , CRAGGING

Sella village  is just 10 minutes from the Sella crags – why stay anywhere else? Also within easy distance are the  crags at Toix, on the coast, the Mascarat gorge, Guadalest, Puig Campana, the Penyon D’ Ifach at Calpe and the new routes on the Peñon Divino, down the valley- Sella is central for all the Costa Blanca climbing.

Liz and Steve are not climbers but these houses have been used by climbers since 1989: clean, comfortable, well equipped and well maintained.  Casaroc aims to be the most professional outfit offering accommodation anywhere in the area. All the houses have free Wi-Fi, fresh bedlinen and towels, well equipped kitchens and bathrooms with hot showers. The bedrooms have heaters for those cold evenings.

Casaroc and Roc House have copies of  the Rockfax Costa Blanca guide – and we also have copies of the Marina Baixa map of the whole area, sometimes on sale, usually on loan.

The Casaroc houses are particularly interested to hear from climbing or walking / hiking leaders or guides wanting to bring groups, as well as from the independent travellers just wanting a couple of Bunkhouse beds for a few nights.

Prices range from €20.00 per person per night up to a 10/12 bed house, La Casa Grande de Sella (Big house),  at €980.00 the week (about €14.00 per ppp night)

SURF & SNORKEL

Torres beach, and further afield , Denia, Gandia and Campello, all offer possibilities of surfing. OK, so this isn’t Portugal with 100 m waves…. but it’s the Mediterranean and we got surf!

And the Ali-sub club down  at La Vila Joiosa is a ood place to start – or continue – your diving life. They offer individual, group and family packages. Check out the website.

In the pictures below you can see Remco, our neighbour from Villapico, catching waves at Torres beach, and a few shots I took from the Ali-sub website. Oh, and Remco with his flippers on!
